The Environmental Intern position is designed to be flexible so that it is responsive to the intern’s education schedule.  Typically, the position is filled by an active undergraduate student.  However, interns may also be recent graduates, who have not yet achieved full time employment, graduate students, or recent graduates waiting to start graduate programs.  During the active school session, interns typically work 8 to 10 hours per week, and normally perform on-going monitoring related tasks.  During breaks from school, interns may work up to 40 hours a week and will also be provided with project work that will vary depending on what needs the environmental group currently has to fulfill.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform record-keeping and reporting duties for various environmental compliance programs.
  • Assist with air emissions calculations for standard and non-standard batch operations.
  • Perform routine checks/audits of environmental compliance data kept electronically and in the plants.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Class work in an undergraduate chemical engineering curriculum with intention to pursue a bachelor or graduate degree. 
These are the specific areas of knowledge, skill and ability that are important for successful job performance. They must be job related and consistent with business necessity.

  • Knowledge and ability applying problem solving as demonstrated by schoolwork performance and work experience.
  • The Environmental Intern is expected to exhibit a professional attitude and interact with environmental group customers to obtain information for reporting and analysis purposes.

This is a non-exempt position. Salary based upon the successful candidate’s qualifications and level of experience.
